Hi.. I’m back from Penang and my 21km Marathon was awesome. I just got back on Sunday night, which explains why the lack of updates here.

Anyway, last week I went for a live gig at Artista where new bands and not so new bands perform. I was there to take some photos for fun.

An Honest Mistake rockin.

They were kinda rowdy and all. Plus they have long hair to swing around as they jam..

The crowd really like them and yea they’re really good.

They’re called “The Bananas”.

They have really catchy tunes. They performed two song’s that night, one is a cover for “Don-cha” by Pussy Cat Dolls and another is also a cover, by Britney Spears. Of course they sung it in their own way which made them quite unique.

Later on that night, went back home, took some photos of “The Bananas” as they needed some band photos.

So we went to the back alley wanting to do somehting like these. Which after a few photos, a patrol car came to stop us from what we’re doing. They were erm kinda ruckus at first. Probably thinking if we are gonna run or something. Hahaha..

Noah & The Whale – 5 Years Time.

The post about bands and gigs will be postponed. I will now post some photos from yesterday. I had some lame tv interview yesterday at my place. About my shoes and I. I didn’t feel good about it as I know my stuffs are really small and I don’t deserve this lame crap. Don’t ask more about it..

Penang Bridge International Marathon is here! I will be over in Penang on Saturday until Sunday. I am participating in the half marathon, which is the 21km.

The Beatles – Revolution

The title above has nothing to do with this post. This is because I was going thru some old Nike Commercials on YouTube and I stumbled upon this. The first ever TV-Commercial to have official license to use Beatles music. This was back in 1987. The advertisement/campaign is inconjunction of the birth of the Air Max 87′ also known as the Air Max 1. However, there were a little controversey and some lawsuit crap going on later that time. Anyway I shall embed this video here. And true enough, the Nike Air Max is a Revolution!

On the side note, the best Ben Drury and Nike Collaboration has still gotto be the Air Max 1…

Later the next day, Tuesday, I went on to the same set for the same photos, only in day time. I asked Faliq to tag along.

After getting everything that’s needed to be done, done, we headed back to 1Utama to chill out and we had Kluang Station for tea.

I had my favourite Sirap Limau..

I used to like their Kopi Ais, until I had this, and everytime I enter Kluang Station, I have to order this! They have some erm dragon fruit bits or I don’t know what, but they taste really good..

I had it together with a toast bun set.

Later that night, went for bouldering and hell yea it was a good one!

Yesterday, Wednesday, I went to Artista at Tropicana City Mall to shoot photos for a gig. Just for fun for a friend’s band. More like my friend, Jin’s friend’s band. Oh well, I had a good time there. So stay tune for some photos of gigs and more!

Two nights ago, Jin and Andrew accompanied me on a photoshoot along LDP & Federal highway at around 10pm onwards. We had to stop our car by the highway on emergency lanes to shoot some photos of billboards. It was quite scary as it was quite late and any motorists could pull over and robbed us. I stood alone with my tripod on the pavement while Jin and Andrew sits in the car helping me to look out while talking to me from the window. It was kinda chilly. Oh, if you noticed, it has been quite cold/chilly in Malaysia. Every morning afternoon I have problems getting out of bed. Oh well, so here is one of the photos that I shot for fun (after getting sufficient shots of what needed)

My favourite of river of lights I’ve ever caught on my camera. I like where I stood, although I thought standing above in between both opposite directions will be awesome. I think this is really cool.

After all that, we headed back to Curve, it was about 1am or so. That was when I decided to reward Jin as he was being very nice and patient chauffering us around. Hahaha. So yea, he decided to have his fourth ice cream of the day. So we stopped by at KK Mart to get this little boy his ice cream. There, we found Tora, Ding Dang and JoJo. Do they ring a bell? Think of our childhood days, when we step in the sundry store or when the evening breadman stops outside your house. Oh well anyway they are mysteriosly fancy boxes that comes with an unknown toy and some dodgy chocolate (which usually our parents would throw them away) So yea, Jin was amused and he wanted to get either one. Hahahaha.. But I didn’t want to waste money. He went for those lil cone shaped jellies instead. Hahahha..

Went back to the office for a short while as Andrew has some unfinished business to do. While waiting for him, I had a small little photoshoot with Jin..

After that, I moved on with a little self portrait.

Then we went back home. And the following day (yesterday) I had the same photoshoot but in the day.

15th November marks the birthdate of our dear friend ZhenQuan. He just turned 21 yesterday. As a close friend of his, I wished him twice (this year) on the wrong time.. Well at least I’m the first and the second guy who wished him. Well how it went? Okay, on Friday night at 11.45 pm exactly.. We were talking while having a drink at Murni, I suddenly went.. Eh isn’t your birthday already? Being a smart aleck, I said “Happy birthday” then I looked at my watch (not looking at the watch first) and I realized that I was 15 minutes early. Then I went woops.. Later on when he dropped me home, at about 1am. I said thanks and Happy Birthday.. And he laughed.. I was like ehh it’s passed 12 already. And he said his birthday is on the 15th, and I replied, “Isn’t today the 15th?” Saturday was the 14th.. Arrgh damn… It always and it only happen to him. Even last year, I wished him earlier than the rest by a couple of days. Something is just not right.

So we had birthday lunch for him at Artista Cafe & Bistro at Tropicana City Mall yesterday afternoon. Nice and cozy place. Warm lights which are not too dim neither too dark. They sell artsy fartsy illustrations too. There is also a mini stage where there is a band setup for live gigs. Unfortunately, there isn’t any gigs on Sunday.. Mehh.

The rest without Suehlung.. Damn wide angle isn’t wide enough. Oh and from the picture you can already conclude, women can be really anti social.

Since everyone being camera shy, (especially the one sitting infront of me) I have to take photographs of food.

I hope these pictures will cure your Monday Blues at the office..

Sookteng’s Chicken Pasta. (I think)

And some Japanese thingamajiggywalawalabingbang spaghetti that I ordered. Anything that goes with tomato base and an egg. You’ll never go wrong!

I just don’t understand these restaurant’s cafe. They just have to make the name of their food so sophisticated. Not like you’ll freaking drool just by hearing it’s name.. I mean look at “Char Kway Teow” or “Kou Low Yuk” they are freaking straight forward, get to the point and they make you salivate! I think it’s stupid. Look how simple does a “Burger Daging Special Cheese” sounds? Straight to the point and it gets your mind thinking about juicy beef patty with molten cheese and egg yolk with a lil bit of Lea & Perrins sauce and pepper. Ahhhh.. I mean if you come out with a Japanese <fill in the blank with some sophisticated word>.. Does it sound like a spaghetti to you? And because they have that sophisticated name, they have to spend 160 characthers to explain what the heck is that on the menu. How intelligent. So let’s compare once more with the “Char Kway Teow” or “Burger Daging Special Cheese”.. …… What explanations do you need? Sorry guys.. I’m more of a cheap ass hawker food guy. Hahaha. May it be Jalan Alor’s Beef Noodle, Yut Kee’s Roti Pork Chop, or the Char Kway Teow behind my house.

Back to the birthday. Just like any of our usual birthday outings/celebrations. We’ll buy a cake and hide it behind the counter. Seriously… We need to find something new. EVERY FREAKING DAMN BIRTHDAY has a  birthday cake with the exact same kinda surprise. Hahaha. It’s no longer a surprise anymore. Hahaha.. So yea.. We bought him a cake.

It was a Tiramisu cake. Half of it is black and the other half is white in colour.

That’s the cake. Half white and the other half is black. Hey.. I can almost start an album of photos of SookTeng cutting cake. Almost every birthday celebration, Sookteng is the one distributing them. We need to change this too.. No no, don’t look at me.. I will always be the one taking photos.

Now do you know what’s the birthday privilleges? You get half the cake yourself. I didn’t know that ZhenQuan is such a racist till today. He chose the white side of the cake instead of the black. Why? It has to be some racial issues. Terrible I must say. How are we going to achieve 1Malaysia if everyone chooses the white and not the brown? Just like how when I was young, my brown colour pencil is always long, and not as short as the others.. Because I only use them to colour the tree trunks brown. And nothing else. Hahaha.

Oh and one reason why I am not sleeping yet.. It is because I have two good friends on my bed now.. So good that they won’t let me sleep but they are both snoring away.. Aren’t they nice? I bet they really love me..

And oh, just so you know.. My mom just changed these sheets for me.. I’ve not slept in it yet.. Blehh…

Week – 1 on Shutterama (Black & White Street Photography)

Just in case you don’t know, Shutterama is a Facebook Group eman and I started.. We are trying to form a small group of photography enthusiasts who are from anywhere and everywhere. (We’re mostly based in Malaysia who are studying everywhere else in the world.) Here on Shutterama, we will come out with different themes weekly. Week 2 has just started. Theme for Week 2 is sex.. Yea super random.. Sex.. How la to shoot something sex-related. Any suggestions perhaps?

So here it is, the post I promised. Coliseum was the place we had for lunch last week. As continued from here .. I was taught much about our history of our culture and how hainanese chicken chops and hainanese – western fusion came about. I’ve learned a lot from them, well most of it not taught in our history back in high school. Adrian & Siva even told me a thing or two about the heritage of this place. The Captain of Coliseum Cafe now, an old uncle.. Apparently his parents used to work here and he lives in there throughout his life. From being a kid, washing the dishes, till now.. A captain.

Great place to chill out and have a cold beer on a hot sunny day.

So while I was shooting photos of the surrounding, I told Siva to decide what’s best for me. And I was told that as a first timer, I must try their specialty, “The Sizzling Steak.”

Before the steak was served as I was sitting at the table, a waited pushed a cart and stopped about 10 meters away from me. I was thinking, hmmm.. Okie maybe that’s not mine and I don’t see any sizzles anyway. Suddenly, he walked to me, tied a bip overhanging from my neck. I was a little confused, especially when both Siva and Adrian was looking at me and said “HAHA! Are you ready for the sizzling steak? Now it’s time to experience the SIZZLING STEAK” with the look on their face. I was also told to prepare my camera. And so I did.

So the waiter pours the mushroom sauce over the hot plate with the steak in it. And zzzzzzzzzzzzsssizzlezzssizzlingzzaaazeeeezuuuuaazaassizzlingsizzlingggzz…

And then the steak was served on my table. That’s exactly how it looked like!

I was also told that this is my first timer.. So I must have a picture of myself with the steak..

And so I had my photo taken. I was looking like a tourist.

Until a point where some dudes at the bar stopped me from taking pictures. I chatted a bit with them, well they’re quite nice people.. They didn’t wanted to appear in the photos. And that’s why.. But oh well. I still acted like a tourist and took lots of pictures of the articles hung on the wall.

Ohyes I know I am supposed to blog about the lunch at Coliseum, but I am a little over excited about my pick ups from this week…

One of my favourite sneaker and of course my favourite among the Air Max series.. Here it is, the Air Max 95..

This colourway and edition is designed by well known Dutch artist called Parra. Hence this is called the Air Max 95 Running Man by Parra. This was released last year in conjunction of the Nike Running Man campaign which includes Parra and Misha. So yea, I bought this one year after the relese.. But hey.. It is better late than never!

This is by far the most colourful sneakers I bought this year. Compared to most that I bought which are black and white.. Hahaha.. Pretty sad ey. I just got this off the net for a steal earlier tonight. And I must say I got it at a very very good price.. Oh well, I’m gonna rock ‘em hard!

And another shoe I bought 2 days ago. A shoe that I bought for a purpose other than for keeping or casual wear.

The Cragsdance. This must be the ugliest shoes I’ve bought this year in my life! Ugly is an understatement for this matter.. These are bouldering shoes by the way.

I started bouldering about a month plus ago. I figured that renting shoes is really costly in the long run. So I took the plunge and bought these.. You might be wondering, why on earth did I buy this colour? Well, simple, this one costs RM190, and the cooler ones cost about RM450. So yea.. I’m sure you manage to figure out why.
